Yvette Gresle is an independent art historian and art writer. Her art writing focuses on artists who have a historical relationship to the African continent and its diaspora, exhibiting in the UK, and emerging UK based artists more generally. She recently submitted her PhD dissertation which was based at University College London (History of Art). She writes across media and her theoretical interests are to do with feminist art histories, post-colonial positions, trauma, violence and memory. Yvette is also engaged by art writing as a practice, and a site of critical, ethical and political thought. She writes for a number of art publications based in the UK, Europe, Canada and South Africa. Yvette is also a London-based Research Associate at the University of Johannesburg, and is interested in points of connection between artists based in the African continent and the UK.
