| My work is concerned with identity and I have developed an interest in body modifications such as tattooing, piercing and less permanent means of self-expression - hairstyles, fashion and trends. I am exploring these themes by producing portraits of people (especially young people) who have chosen to project their own version of their identity to the world. I see their external appearance as armour or a mask underneath which the real person looks out at the world.
