| I am a Lithuanian born, London based contemporary artist with BA in fine arts and humanities. My sculptural paintings are made with layers of paper, acrylic mediums, beads and glitter to create fairy tale like art works of Earth and Sky. The concept of these works is to approach the body issues of a female body and mind, fighting the prejudice views about women in how they should present their bodies and behave in societies. My artwork is inspired by my own pagan roots and a book "Women Who Run With The Wolves" by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, who awakens the desire to find a long lost connection with nature and own intuition through analysis of ancient folk tales. I rebuild that connection through moulding forms on the canvas which reminds me of digging earth when gardening. |
