I am a Latvian artist living and working in the Potteries, England. My day job is an arts organizer and pottery teacher for a cultural centre based at the Burslem School of Art. Working with clay for me is almost same important as breathing.
In my sculptures I am trying to capture a spontaneous overflow of one`s feelings. Each sculpture demonstrates an effective state of consciousness, such as that resulting from emotions, sentiments or desires.
The guiding maxim in my work is a phrase I heard at the age of 17 from my pottery tutor, while attending Latvian Community University
"It doesn't matter if your pot is perfectly straight or not, the essence of all art is in how much of your heart you put into each piece you create."
