|'Memory, hither come,|
And tune your merry notes;
And, while upon the wind
Your music floats.'
These thoughts expressed by William Blake, concur with ideas that inform my own work. I am preoccupied with vague or fleeting memories. Like a tune that wafts in the wind, a memory flits in and out of the mind. Often triggered by music or a smell, the past briefly touches our present. Along with hints at changing seasons my paintings, imply the transience of time.
I work mostly with oils on canvas. I like the work to be fluid, generally enjoying: printing, mark making, layering and the incidental. Each painting goes through many changes, before a final image reveals itself.
