Hi, Just writing to introduce myself. I'm Julie and I'm based in Wales. I have to work professionally to pay the bills, but hoping to increase my art activity from 'all my spare time' to 'all my time' (in time!) How do artists pay all the bills if not working in other jobs? This question intrigues me and I'd love to know how others have made the transition. I'm looking at downsizing and going part-time to start with, but that can't happen until next year. I still manage to spend many hours a week working on different projects (how else does one stay sane whilst working in a stressful job that takes you away from your true passion?) Anyway, glad to be part of this community, if you'll have me :-D

Hi Julie, I'm new here too. Also thinking about how to make the transition from part time to full time. Difficult when there is only one of me to pay the bills. One of these days :-)

Hi Janey,
Actually, I've been surprised at the way just getting out there on a website, social net-working and sites like this has been snowballing with feedback.
And then the feedback gives me confidence.
I've just entered my first piece to sell for a proper price into an exhibition with the Clifton Arts Society in Bristol; so I'm crossing my fingers that it gets selected.
I'll start looking around for the next exhibition whilst that's up!
