Description: In this project, now evolved into Vanishing Point, I am collecting people’s memories of plastic bags. These images are to prompt a participatory exchange of memories of plastic bags. Living in the era of climate change, we are witness to a relentless process of extinction. Man’s striving for progress has evolved into the next geological phase where the natural environment, as we knew it, is changing, morphing to disappearance under the actions of human beings. Plastic bags, one of man’s artificial creations, have now been banned in several parts of the world in the attempt to save the planet.
As ever more species are dying, will man-made plastic constructions survive? In what form? What will be left of them? Under a new cultural context, how important will they be? Will they be remembered and if so, how?
